About The Open Door
This blog is a compilation of my thoughts, views, and feelings on poetry. It focuses on the Beat Generation, in particular Gregory Corso and his respective counterculture, disillusionment, and postmodern poetry qualities. It also includes examples from the other arts (music, painting, dance, etc.) that reflect the same general attitude and culture of the Beat Generation. I hope this blog can help you open a new door, as you discover a new-found, deep appreciation for poetry.
Side Note: I chose "The Open Door" as the name for this poetry blog because it was the name of a New York club where jazz musicians played and poets gathered during the 1950s. Just as the New York club was an inspiration to poets at that time, I hope my blog is an inspiration to you today.
